You can do this. I promise.
Hola. I’m going to start by stating the obvious. I don’t know shit about shit. I’m not here to teach you anything but rather to share my story so that way you may be able to relate and I can hopefully spark something inside you to get started.
Automatic Pilot: Can you relate? You wake up, get up, grab a quick breakfast (if any) get ready for the day, go to work, come home, have dinner, watch TV and you go to sleep. Next day, repeat. Does this sound familiar to you? If so, you are not alone, there are millions of people living this way. It is SO easy to get stuck in an automatic routine. The ease of not thinking about something because hey, I’ve done it before, it works for me, I get my shit done, I can get some rest, D-U-N
But if you are reading this, if you somehow ended up on a weight loss blog it’s because you are not in a place you want to stay at. Living on automatic pilot without giving a second thought to what you are doing, without paying attention to the consequences of your actions is not a good place to be and the worst part is that we don’t even notice. It takes something (big or small) to even be a blip on your radar. An example of something small would be you walking past a store window and catching your reflection. “do I really look like that?” “Dayum! What happened to me?” or maybe a picture somebody took that you didn’t know they were taking and you didn’t have time to get into your best pose and you notice that side you are always in denial about. Trust me, I’ve been there. An example of something big is how my journey started, at least when I got really serious about it. I lost my dear friend and I got very scared. That could’ve been me, he was only two years older than me. That shook my world and changed me in an instant. I didn’t wanna die. Talk about “change”. It’s time to wake up.
You Are Insane. If you think things are going to change for you by staying on automatic pilot, by staying on your awesome couch watching TV you are sadly mistaken mah friend. That is never gonna happen. Nothing is going to change for the better by staying in your comfort zone. Nothing at all. This way of life has been taking a toll on you and it will fucking kill you. Slowly. It will get you. Like humidity in your walls, you won’t notice it until there’s mold all over. Don’t get “moldy” lol, don’t let it get you, you are better than this. You are worth it.
Break The Cycle: Start Today. I’m not telling you to start a diet. To go get a gym membership. To drink water. You don’t even need money to get started, just do this:
Patty’s Points:
1.- Have a conversation with yourself. Analyze your life. Nobody is listening. Be honest and truthful, no BS allowed, don’t be scared to fail because hey, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain here.
2.- Write one goal. One little bitty small goal like going to sleep earlier, waking up earlier to walk around the block, etc. Nothing too dramatic or life changing, just something easy but different than your normal routine and get it done. Setting a goal and completing it will give you a feeling of accomplishment, it’s addicting! Soon you’ll be setting harder ones or some that may even sound impossible but you will get there, slowly.
3.- Make lists. Make a list of things you love to do. A list of things you hate. A list of things you are good at. A list of things you suck at. A list of things you desire, etc. This will make things real. You will start to get to know yourself better and have a grasp on what needs to be done. Baby steps. I always thought I hated exercise, but guess what? It was cardio I hated, ha ha, I absolutely love lifting weights!
4- Know that fit people are normal. They are not from another planet. I remember looking at fit people and thinking “they are lucky to have been born that way” lol NOOOOOOO! They were NOT born that way, they have just figured out what works for them and they work for it. They have found a balance, time to find yours, sweetie. It’s time, get it fucking done, you can do this as well as them or even better. YOU can do this.
5.- Break the cycle. Fuck automatic pilot. You’re better than that. Think about your day, plan it out, set goals, achieve them. Set better goals, achieve them. Fail (that’s okay). Get up. Repeat. Remember that the sun comes out every morning and with it, a chance to start over. Notice how I didn’t say “try” there is no trying, only doing. Just do it.
Once you decide to change, come hell or high water you are going to get it done. Because it’s all in your mind. Change your mentality and you will accomplish anything you set out to do. No, it’s not something your mom feed you and didn’t mean it. It’s true. Not only health-wise but in all aspects of your life. Do it. Wake up!
I’d love for you to share with me the things you do on automatic pilot and your plan to get out of it, leave me a comment below or in any of my social media sites. Thank you and see you next time.
